Default Livingston's Map Checking Service

Purpose of Service:

To help players gain their Grandmaster Cartographer Titles.

Service Provided:

The checking of player maps in order to spot any areas that are currently unexplored by the player, so that they may then uncover said areas and gain more points towards their title.

Note: Currently the service is only for Cantha (Factions). This service may become available for Tyria and Elona in the future, depending on how it goes with Cantha.

Reason for Service:

Even with the use of 100% cleared maps, many people are unable to figure out what they need to explore in order to finish off their titles. The last 2% of a cartography title is the hardest to gain, as often there will be many tiny spots all over the map that the player thought they explored, but have not.

Cost of Service:

Service will be provided based on the maps I have provided in post 2 of my cartography guide (See link below):

Shing Jea
Kaineng
Mount Qinkai
Unwaking Waters
Luxon

I will check the areas on these maps at a base rate of 5k each or the whole map for a base rate of 20k (5k cheaper than getting them all checked separately)

Additional fees will be based on the current percentage you have uncovered. The reason for this is that it's a lot easier to check a map and point out 1-2 spots someone is missing than to have to point out 20-30 spots someone is missing.

If you are currently at 99% or above then the base rate of 5k each or 20k for the whole map applies.

If you are at 98.5%-98.9% then add an extra 2.5k to each separate map, or add 10k for the whole map.

If you are at 98%-98.4% then add an extra 5k to each separate map, or add 20k for the whole map.

If you are at 97%-97.9% then add an extra 10k to each separate map, or add 40k for the whole map.

Total Cost based on % completed:

99%+ 5k for each map or 20k to check the entire map

98.5%-98.9% 7.5k for each map or 30k to check the entire map

98%-98.4% 10k for each map or 40k to check the entire map

97%-97.9% 15k for each map or 60k to check the entire map

Any lower than 97% and I may give you a personal quote based on your %.

Credentials of Provider:

The following is my guide to achieving the Canthan Grandmaster Cartography title:

Canthan Guide

This next thread is where people used to post their maps to be checked by other people on the forums. For a few months I was the only one doing this, and I started doing it while a few other guys were doing so as well. If you look back through the pages you can see that I have checked hundreds of maps for people. Counting the maps that I have checked for people who have whispered me in the game, I have likely checked thousands.

Why are you charging for a service that you used to offer for free?

That's the big question and it's simply a matter of time and getting sick of it.

When I was checking maps for people before that was all I was ever doing. So many people wanted their maps checked, and to me it felt unfair if I were to check a few people's maps but not all of those who posted.

At one point I tried to do a back log thing where I wouldn't check them for awhile then I would take a day or two and check a heap of them, then not do so for awhile again. The problem with this is that the backlog became too large, and checking that many maps in such a short span of time was giving me massive head aches.

It got to the point that my only involvement with Guild Wars was checking other people's maps, and I decide to stop doing so on the board around the time that Nightfall came out, as I wanted to actually play the game that I had just spent good money on (Special Edition $90 AUS). After that, just the thought of starting to do so again gave me headaches.

This being said, I was still checking maps for people. Though I quit checking them for people on the board, I would still receive massive amounts of in game queries from people who wanted me to check their maps for them. There are times when I have 4-5 people asking me at the same time. I do enjoy helping other people though, so since they took the time to contact me in game, I decided to go ahead and help them, and I find it hard to refuse requests from people who need help.

Thus I have decided to charge fees for my services. This way if people whisper me in game wanting me to check their maps, I can tell them that I run a map checking service and point them here. So I will either check their maps and get compensation for the time that I was unable to devote to the game, or they refuse and I am free to continue playing the game normally (there was a point where I almost forgot what it was like).

Why would you post a link to a thread that show people how to get the title themselves?

That's simple.

I want people to get the title themselves!

Charging money for my services rather than giving it away for free may drive people to work harder at getting the title themselves

Notes:

1) All customers who purchase map checks of individual maps will need to pay the cost in full before checking is commenced.

2) Customers who wish to get their entire map checked will need to pay half up front and then the second half once 3 of the maps have been checked.

3) All customers will need to provide a screenshot of their current % and I will confirm this in game when the service is paid for.

4) All customers will need to provide screenshots of their current maps. Please refer to my guide (link posted above) for info on how these should be taken. Note: This includes not posting the actual pics with image tags as it makes them harder to check. Please send all map screens to me in a PM. Do not post them on this thread.

5) I reserve the right to deny service to anyone for any reason (Most likely cause being lack of time) before money is exchanged. Once money has been exchanged I must provide the service paid for in full, or provide a full refund if for some reason I cannot complete the paid for service.

6) Please read the Service Section rules before posting in this thread, you can find them here: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10111538

7) If you wish to purchase this service, please post your IGN, a screenshot of your current %, the times that you normally play, and which maps you would like checked.

Thank you,
Livingston

I didn't mention it on this thread but I did point to my guide for a description of how to post your maps, and it says to make sure not to use image tags to post your pics. Please convert your images to URLs. They don't need any tags, just copy and paste the urls so I can follow the links. As is, the images are bigger than what the Guild Wars Guru image specifications allow, which means that your post could be deleted by a mod.

Also please include the times that you are normally on so that I can arrange a payment time. This goes for Indian as well.

********

Payment received from Indian.
